Recipe: Cheesy Hamburger and Macaroni Casserole
Easy “Go To” dish for the wintertime blues
Ingredients:
Approx. 1 pound of ground beef
1 Large Green Pepper chopped (about 1 cup)
1 large onion chopped (about 2 cups)
16 oz of tomato sauce
1/4 tsp of black pepper
8 oz of Velveeta Shreds or 1/4 pound of Processed cheese cubed
1 1/2 cup of elbow macaroni (before cooking) prepared according to packaged directions
Directions:
- Brown the ground beef, onions and green peppers. Drain.
- Add tomato sauce, 6 oz of the Velveeta shreds or 1/4 lb of the cubes and the pepper. Stir until the cheese is melted. Stir in the cooked Macaroni.
- Pour into a 13×9 baking dish coated with non-stick spray. Sprinkle the remaining 2oz of Velveeta shreds on top.
- Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
If you used cheese cubes, you can substitute the shreds on top with shredded cheddar cheese or whatever you enjoy.
